The von Restorf effect often comes up in learning lists of items. This is when an item on the list that's just weird and completely stands out from the herd. In at number two, we have the spreading activation model. It thinks of memory as being like a big network of interconnected nodes. Related ideas or concepts are nearby or sort of adjacent nodes within this sprawling network.
