How to Make People Proud of Your Water Treatment Plant

This is a project called Indus. It was led by a PhD student who's just graduated called Chanel Malik. We decided rather than create large, soupy bioreactors full of algae liquid we would immobilize the algae into a seaweed-based material called a hydrogel. The algae are still able to grow and photosynthesize because the hydrogel is translucent. Then we would flow water over the surface of this tile. So really what Chanel was trying to do was look at how she could create these channels for water flow.
