The Short Ratio Isn't Used to Compare Aggregate Portfolios
Short ratio doesn't take into account correlations between asset classes, or how an asset performs on the right and left tail of the return distribution. It's only used to compare aggregate portfolio against aggregate portfolio. To buy wins, you need to buy runs. The investment management industry is stuck measuring the player and not the wins.
