I don't want to sound at all negative about trigger point focused approaches or what I'd call muscle belly focused approaches because they are very popular. In comparison, the way I personally needle and like to help my colleagues learn to needle, it's not muscle belly focused, it's more extensive so it would use more needles. So it is considerably lighter generally but it's very easy to pop in a needle painlessly and lightly and completely and effectively. You need to learn to be direct and effective in a lighter way. What we're looking for are more subtle changes in the tissue that we then test movement to reassess to see whether it's been effective. We get some indication of the time
