The Thinning Ideal
The slender body ist basically the embodiment of these new ideals of t what i find so interesting about this is that the thinness was actually seen as empowering back in the 19 twenties. It's almost backwards to how you might think the thin ideal arose. But one throughi is that in both cases, body is used as a sign of status. Right to day, being over weight is a lot more associated with lower status in society.
