The Prisoner of America by Franz Kafka

I learned to read surprisingly late in life in my sort of mid teens. I was given a special library card that entitled me to take out audiobooks for free from the library service. There was a collection of children's science fiction stories which included one work by Kafka but also amongst things like what I think is the island of Dr. Moreau or what's called, where it's all about live action and then it was disappeared by an atomizing machine or something. And it also had by Franz Kafka the penal colony. It's about a travel and he goes to this penal colony and there's this giant like frame machine which was set up by the previous mad governor who would pronounce everyone
