In the mid 19 seventies, a bunch of things were observed, which eventually, in not very long and six months or so, became clear, those are evidence of charm quarks. So that was like, ok, those exist. There are two generations of particles, the up, down ar charm, strange charm, am and er. But then there's also, there's the electron, and there's the on. The most common kind of process is something like, up cork goes to down cork, plus w particle. That's a charge changing reaction.
