How to Get Rid of Place Holders
We are wired to make quick decisions about how we're going to trust someone. In many cultures, inserting pauses makes you seem smarter and more intentional. But in most situations, some one's not going to steal the mike from you simply because you paused. The first step is this, the verbal tick you have cannot just be willed away. Instead, we replace it with a different word. So every time you feel like saying like or, you know, just say um or vice versa.
