The Americans were being quite downbeat about the prospects for a Ukrainian spring summer offensive talking about modest territorial gains and such like. The Allies have decided on a strategy of sending more equipment than originally intended precisely with the hope that the Ukrainians can make some kind of gains this this year which will bring forward the end of the conflict.
