The Red Cap in Scottish Folklore

The red cap in Scottish folklore is associated with a murderous goblin. People have seen blood and know that redness if nothing else. We use red just naturally as an alarm. It's not like stop if you wish to. Stop. Red alert. The piper brings them to the river and drowns them. That's something either going into water or coming out of water, which we often interpret as something moving in or out of the unconscious.
