Puff pastry was supposedly created by French painter and apprentice cook, Claude Jelle in about 1645. He accidentally created a laminated dough when trying to make a form of rolled butter cake for a sick father. The patient took at seeing him make this preparation and told him not to bake the loaf. So he was on printers. This is why I say there's something to be learned from home cooks. Oh, and he was getting shouted down by his master.
Dave and Chris discuss the ideal summer playlist and debate the appropriate vibe for summer. The two then discuss Hall of Fame moments in food, where Chris takes partial credit for the invention of “spillover nachos,” and they explore the incredible stories behind foods we take for granted.
