Using a Lilyc Variation to Predict the Fate of the Food Webs
A lilyc variation at a single genetic locus can have profound effects on entire ecosystems, making those loci what they call keystone genes. Matt and his team constructed different versions of experimental food webs using strains of rabbit-obsessed that had different underlying genotypes at three loci. Remarkably, a l Lilyc variation at just one locus, called AOP2, strongly predicted the fate of the experimental food webs.
