"I think they wanted, I would describe it like a carnival kind of atmosphere," he says. "There's animating lights and loud noises to attract you to that section of the store." Nintendo was able to beat out Sega for space in stores by using different tactics such as giving them merchandising allowances or premium gifts. The company later started producing displays for other companies but NMI talks about this book more often.
