What Was It Like to Work at the New Yorker?
I wanted to do it once I was offered it, but I was nervous about it. Yes, I had very young children at the time. And I may have turned that down if my mother had become because I didn't know what I was going to do about them. So I'm abidingly grateful that they did. We saw this line, at least attributed to you, talking about 50,000 words about zinc as a kind of comment on the old New Yorker. Although I heard it was also actually a story about grain on the prairies,. perhaps you can enlighten us on that.
