The History of Facebook's API

Facebook's API would let developers create all sorts of stuff that could be built on top of Facebook, including things like games and surveys. This is what eventually led to the Cambridge Analytica scandal because it meant that the app developer was able to access information from people who never consented to share that information in the first place. In 2007, we had another huge development that would have a big push on APIs and that was the introduction of the iPhone.
