The Advantages of APIs

I think that everything should be done through a request and that request should come through an API. I read somewhere that 90% of internet traffic today is API calls, RESTful API calls on the internet. The benefit of forcing an API is that you can trace back to somebody using some application,. Some subject, some person who's actually responsible for making that. So from an audit point of view, having APIs, there's also the layer at which you can secure and authorize. We're seeing a big trend towards individual domains having to think aboutAPI as being that kind of protecting all of their assets.
