This joyous and unashamed celebration of drag culture comes against the backdrop of growing oppression. We've seen an increase in anti- drag legislation in the USA in recent months with states like Tennessee and Arizona tabling laws that regulate when and how drag can be performed. These anti- drag laws are part of an increasing right-wing attack on the LGBTQ plus community. This poses a challenge to queer freedom of expression and it's a sign of increasing hostility towards gay, queer and trans people.
