It's important for you not only to have a mission statement but an entire set of guiding principles. These guiding principles include pieces like critical action. What does everybody on your team need to do each day in order to ensure your goals are accomplished? Things like key characteristics. Not just their kind, their honest, their smart. But specifically, are they good coders if you have a pet kennel? Do they love dogs? Right. And so when you get really clear on those things, it aligns your whole team around the vision of where your company is going.
