In English, we say that that friend who's helping you find someone there, they are your wingman for the evening. If you go out on the pull, if you're looking for a girl, or if you're a girl, you're looking to score. And then when he ends up going home with her that evening, you might take some of the credit for it. So if you can imagine yourself doing something, you might use the expression to see yourself doing it.
