Scepticism and Christianity in the Early Modern Period
Scepticism and religious belief underpinned each other until the sevententh century. People used sceptical arguments to shore up christianity, but others thought that it was a danger to religion. One interesting example is from the early sixteenth century when gian francesco attacked pagan learning in his treatise 'Vanity of pagan learning'
