The Violin Concerto never made it to the US for its premiere in early 1912. Hayawatha's wedding feast earned him £25.15 but novella made a lot more money than that. Coleridge Taylor died of pneumonia believed to have been exacerbated by overwork. He was only 37 when he died and his death was front page news.
