There are a few families that still own land that date back to the spanish land grants, before texas was a state. Many of these companies have owned land for 60 plus years and their boards are now telling them,. sell your surface land holdings and invest the money in renewable technologies. A couple of broad mandates have been given to huge landowners in areas where i really want to own some land, and they sell it is just kind of unkept forest land.
