'The right way to be on the left is precisely to counter white supremacism and verse forms of white identi politics with a range of different forms of identtic politics that can stand up to that,' he says. 'We don't notice it because we just take it for granted, but that's not an argument... But what about the forms of identity politics that aren't on the right in that way? So you know, if we say that, obviously, politics that is about what supremacy and so on, is not of the left, that's clear.'
