Synergistic Satisfaction of Needs
Human-scale development challenges the traditional understanding of development, says Manfred McSneath. There are nine needs that need to be met: subsistence, freedom, identity, protection, knowledge and idleness. But there's also ways in which we meet a need and harm another; for example by going to war or working too much time away from our families. In order to create a new story around those needs, we have to start showing examples where things have happened differently according to cultures across the world.
