Reporters are following the story of a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. Are there not forces meant to protect people from this sort of harm? Is it awkward for reporters to interrogate the powerful on these questions? If they aren't doing that, why do they have a constitutional amendment dedicating to protecting their right to do that? Here's where a free press would speak up loudly and doggedly about what is going on.
