Loneliness and Tribalism
Theresa May appointed a loneliness minister in the UK last year. John Sutter: The US rates of loneliness are actually much higher. 35% of Americans report they are chronically lonely, only 8% report having a conversation with a neighbor over the previous year. One study found that it's worse than smoking 15 cigarettes a day and has a greater impact on your lifespan than obesity.
