The Importance of Nominalization in Classical Chinese
The Indo-European infinitive derives from a nominalizer is what you're saying. The same derivational element can do double duty for driving nouns of place and of time. In more morphologically simple languages, nominalization may be more a product of syntax than morphology. There's all sorts of interesting patterns for if you are going to make a more isolating language that you still have tools to nominalize.
