The Rain of Anastasius
Anastasius was well known in the capital as a pious and enthusiastic layman. Despite not pursuing an ecclesiastical career, he was once put on a shortlist to become the Bishop of Antioch. This mixed upbringing helped foster Akian interest in theology that would last all of Anastasius' days. The New Emperor's reign is marked by both constant turbulence and a simultaneous calm. It includes invasion, rebellion and riot, but also prosperity, peace and harmony.
