The Value of the Outsider Perspective

Being a white guy with the name Romero carries with it, at least back in my day, certain disadvantages. I was really an outsider, but I took jobs that senior officers wouldn't take and other senior officers had to depend on me. So part of this is recognizing the value of the outsider perspective. It's so often it's tempting sometimes to feel like, well, this is unjust and unfair... But there's also always a way to consider the advantage of your unique perspective.
