The Navajo Nation is 27,000 square miles or 17 million acres of land. It would take John about five hours to completely cross it from Flagstaff to Albuquerque. When he first started there were 40 rangers covering the entire reservation. Every year after I was there, we lost funding because we're entirely tribally funded. There were only about 15, 14 or 15 rangers when I finished.
