Central Asia - The Languages of Turkish and Mongolic Peoples
For a long time, people thought that the languages of turkish and mongolic peoples all came from a common root. That theory has since been criticized and basically rejected. Most scholars don't believe at any more that there is a sort of single ancestor people of all these altiic turks and mongols. They come from various sources around urasia, and that their languages have grown more similar over time through interaction. Which is a very interesting and unusual phenomenon.
