The first practice is something called Thraktika or fixed point gazing. You stare at a candle flame for an extended period of time without blinking. The next practice that I would teach someone is if you close your eyes for a second and you breathe, I want you to notice the breath in your nose. Should be done on the guidance of a teacher.
