Is There a Consequence for Taking Longer Between Pitch Licks?

Even before the pitch clock, young players had a faster pace. I think that people adapt the environment that they exist. If there isn't a consequence for taking too long, you're going to take as long as you need to. Older pitchers tend to take longer and i think older batters do too. There is probably a a performance enhancing effect of taking longer. And if you're given that time, then, ye, i think you're probably going to take it.
