The Supreme Court issued a decision that overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday, June 24th. The ruling will have near immediate effects in some states that already have trigger laws on the books. It's almost impossible to talk about the implications of banning abortion without addressing the extremely high rate of maternal mortality in the US. In the United States, 52% of pregnancy-related deaths happen after the baby is delivered.
