Buddhism in a lot of ways fits this description of not having anywhere to hide, not having anything to depend on. The moment we're able to understand that about ourselves and understand that these are just stories, we can start to experience the cessation of the unsatisfactory. And one of the main stories is the story that says, hey, you shouldn't be experiencing suffering. That means something's wrong.
