For me, I think transhumanism is actually quite a threat to human civilization. And my goal is to make AGI before we get to like real rapid transhumanism. When you have some humans that are more superhuman and various abilities than others, you're going to instantly exacerbate the class divide. The only thing kind of stopping us here is that everyone is pretty sure everyone else has the same capability. Right now we're on the verge of nuclear or robotic warfare.
