The Future of Spelunky 2

Spelunky 2 is going to take a lot of our attention at least initially. It could be that Spelunky 2 just brings in a lot of people to the original game. So I think there will still be a community that competes with it. The fastest run ever if people are playing in several years might actually use a teleporter on the late game because there's only a handful of ways to get it. You could also find that teleporter in a crate as well. There's talk of doing a Spelunky triathlon where you play the original Spelunky classic and then HD and then Spelunky2 or some variance of that.
