The Importance of Design Leaders

Designers are an individualistic people. They like their tools and they like to argue for their way of doing things. If you force them into a particular way of working, then you get into the problem of if all you have is a hammer, everything that's like a nail. The Silicon Valley startup mindset has created so much scaffolding around design by formalizing tool sets. That actually, it's kind of neutered designers. I want craftspeople that can use a whole range of tools.
