i joined vivo in twenty eleven. The desired outcome there was to build enough scale outside of u tube, so that we didn't have to solely rely on u tw revenue. I it took a particular offence to see all that through. It required an offence that would jail with an incumbent technology stack,. anyone recalled dot net, that the lots of our cross functional team were attached to. We probably spent two months tuning our rat for the mice space application, but four months creating an abstraction layer for our ruby at to interoperate with the dot net stack....
