The Disadvantages of Using Antigen Negative or Cross-Match Platelets
HLA matched grade is a bit of a circular argument in my opinion. It doesn't matter if they have a cross-reactive antigen because what you really want to know is do they have an antibody to that antigen. So far the problem can be with really highly immunized patients. If they're making antibody to that more than 95% of the population, you're not going to be able to support them with cross-matched platelets. And so you will have to switch either to antigen negative or HLA matched platelets.
