The Lord's Forgiven Past
Jesus had already lavished all of the disciples of grace and forgiveness, including Peter. He is stirring the memory of betrayal up for Peter not to reinforce that Peter is a betrayer but to reinforce thatPeter is not a betrayer. "It's my love that tethers you to me, not your worth," Jesus tells him.
