The Importance of Changing the Business Model
Facebook, TikTok and Twitter are all built around hacking your attention. But if we move to this different business model, well, either of them, suddenly you become the customer. And that's why we've got to change the business model. Technology should be something that helps us. We can get this shit right. We can stop it being designed to hack and invade our attention - which has disastrous effects on us individually and in our politics. Instead have it designed to help us and heal us and help us achieve our goals. That is absolutely achievable. People I met in Silicon Valley could design them in a week but we'vegot to get the incentives right.
