The Role of the Inmen-Gun in the Korean Revolution
As many as 500 members of the Korean national police may have been murdered, often brutally. The insurgents were a populist movement, but this war could make for complicated relationships with the masses. By June 1948, the guerrillas controlled most of Jeju's interior; by the end of the year, the ROK tallied 5,000 fighters on both sides,. 6,000 people arrested, and around 422 guerrillas dead.
