The Dangerous Summer
In 1959, Hemingway travels to Spain for a series of bullfighting articles commissioned by Life magazine. The manuscript grew out of control and Hotchner helped him trim the piece down to 40,000 words. When he was recruited by the NKVD that's when the surveillance started.
