Theoretical Work in the 40s and 50s

Adorno and Hockheim's real theoretical work was the work they did in the United States. They hated it, but precisely because they hated it so much, it was very productive for them. And so when they went back to Frankfurt, they essentially continued doing the same sorts of things they had done in the 40s. Adorno at one point says, and I think this is very important for the discussion, the only thing that's true are exaggerations.
