Is There a Need to Reform the NHS?
Labour will in one form or another have a big offer on childcare at the election. This is a big priority for me, and there's a really strong political argument that we'll need to win some of our most marginal seats. But I don't want to just pour money into a system that isn't currently delivering. There was no plan from Liz Tross to do any changing of ratios, which would have been a big mistake. And you can't make change like that unless you've got a serious plan around it. The opposition are often afraid to show much leg politically in terms of what their offers are because they're afraid government decides to say something instead.
