The plan was to weed him onto methanol in stages. Red Murphy went to a paint store to get the wood alcohol for just 10 cents a can. Mike Maloy downed several poison shots that evening, expressing his pleasure with each. He continued to drink, eventually reaching quite an advanced state of intoxication. This however did nothing to impede his consumption.
