The Role of Race in Capitalism

In the Middle Ages, as European populations engaged in a series of internal colonization efforts, that they developed certain ideas about race. When capitalism does emerge and brings its own even more intense relations of domination and exploitation and inequality, these racial ideas are extended, adapted and deepened to justify new inequalities. In other words, racial thinking suffuses European societies before capitalism emerges.
