The Relationship Between Myelin and Alzheimer's Disease

There is quite a bit of really interesting research out there about myelin and white matter. Some people are calling Alzheimer's disease diabetes type 3, because it's possible that certain brain regions or certain brains don't metabolize glucose as well as others. And I wonder if it has to do with differences in metabolism based on the environment being very different in those two places, spinal cord versus brain.
