The mycorrhizal symbiosis, I describe this exchange between plants and fungi that live in their roots. This is intricately managed and both plants and fungi depend on each other. And so what you end up having is these shared fungal networks. Each link in this network is a fungus with a life of its own. It's still a big mystery how they're able to do this so sensitively. The wood wide web embodies the very principle of ecology.
